Lisbon contains a great many fantastic buildings, going back as far as the 15th century.
The one I focus on here is the Estação do Rossio, right in the heart of the city it was designed by architect José Luís Monteiro in the late 19th century. A website, theculturetrip.com, has this listed 4th among the most impressive buildings in Lisbon. It is primarily a train station, and has a beautiful ceiling, very ornate arches and a glorious clock tower.
Whilst I’m not sure I agree about it being the 4th most impressive building in Lisbon, without question it is definitively the most impressive Starbucks, period! As our American cousins would say.
This is likely not what José Luís Monteiro had in mind when he designed it in the 1800s, however the reuse of the building in this way seems to work well, and Starbucks has invested in the building such that it has qualified as LEED Certified (that demonstrates their environmental credibility).
