BBC 6 Music Wear your old band t-shirt to work day

So, I have a choice. Do I go with t-shirt one where I lost my Glastonbury virginity, as it were, in 2010? There wasn’t a drop of rain that year. Or do I simply go for one that I think looks the best?

Looking over the bands I’ve seen in the five times I’ve been since, it’s hard to choose musically. There have been highs, Foo Fighters last time, Florence and the Machine the year before, Slaves (twice) the previous year, Fat Boy Slim, Cold Play, Dolly (did I say that out loud?), Young Fathers, I could go on all day. There has also been some not to my taste, but hey, that’s the way life is. And, of course, one low…Kanye (as he was called then).

A friend of mine speaks of her happy place. I think that Glastonbury may be my happy place, and I am so glad that I’ve got my ticket for 2019…thank you in-laws. :) Even though the headliner on the Friday night at the Pyramid may be more to my nephew’s taste than mine, there are plenty of other stages to choose from.

Choice is a funny thing. Start-up businesses are told that they should focus on one thing and do that well to succeed. However, choice is important too. Taking the example of a coffee shop, whilst they specialise on coffee only, think of the choice they offer. So, like all good advice, the need to focus on one thing and do that well to succeed needs to be carefully considered and thought through.  As Michael and Emily Eavis only really focus on one thing…putting on a festival...think of the choice they offer!

Getting back to my own choice, I think I’ll go for the t-shirt from 2015, the year Dave Grohl broke his leg and Florence brilliantly stepped-in, Courtney Barnett tripped and fell on stage at William’s Green and got up still playing her guitar, Rae Morris stole the show in The Park, Hozier took a picture of the crown in the John Peel for his Mum, and Wolf Alice blew us all away on the Pyramid.
